Bekim Balaj

Bekim Balaj is an Albanian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Croatian club Rijeka and the Albania national team. He scored the winning goal in the 2011 Albanian Supercup against the league winners Skenderbeu, in a match delayed and disrupted by crowd trouble. Following KF Tiran's first win in the league, it had become evident that Balaj and Gilman Lika had formed an effective partnership from midfield to attack, both of who are from Shkoder. On 4 October 2012, Balaj scored an historical goal for Sparta Prague in his career at UEFA Europa League against Athletic Bilbao, a match valid for group stage finished in the victory 3–1. He scored his first goal for Albania on 7 September 2014, against Portugal in their opening Euro 2016 qualifiers, where Albania won 0–1 away.
