Carlos Hernandez Valverde

His flamboyant attacking moves make Hernandez one of the star Costa Rican players and he can pack a powerful shot from long distance with his right foot. Nicknamed Zorro, this is his first senior FIFA World Cup™ campaign, although he gained tournament experience at the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship. With his club Alajuelense, he won the CONCACAF championship in 2004 and the national title the following year. Hernandez was also part of the Costa Rican team which reached the quarter-finals at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
