One of the few domestic-based players in Slovenia’s squad, Elvedin Dzinic arrives in South Africa still chasing his first full cap. The 24-year-old’s fine form for Maribor has caught the eye of Matjaz Kek, most recently earning him a call-up for the play-off first leg against Russia, but he has thus far been restricted to the role of unused substitute on all of his international outings.Dzinic, who can play in defence or midfield, is a one-club man, having spent his entire career with Maribor since signing professional terms with the Vijoličasti in 2003. Last year witnessed him win his first Slovenian league championship and he has also benefited in recent times from experience in UEFA Champions League qualifiers and the UEFA Europa League.
